Station History

I originally came across VFX for the first time during the summer of 2001 at a ninety-nine cent store in West Valley City.  The station has sponsored some sort of bicycle race and a few advertisements were set out on the counter.  Intrigued, I picked one up ... not for the bicycles, I didn't care about that ... but for a station called "94.5 VFX," that I'd never heard of.  I promptly marched out to my rusty car and locked my AC Delco radio onto 94.5.  Through the static I could hear the VFX resing of the Z+ radio jingles, and I was hooked.
That fall 94.5 VFX magically appeared on a translator on 103.1 FM that had previously been used by KOSY 106.5.  Not long after it also appeared on a translator at 98.3, as 103.1 became a translator for KJQ.  Since that time VFX has steadily become more and more of a Salt Lake City rim shot, while doing a good job of maintaining it's hometown (Logan) identity.
Musically, the station has evolved from nearly Hot AC in 2001 to nearly CHR/Rhythmic today.  It comes and goes as the music charts change, and will likely continue to evolve.
